Whether it is a sinus infection, yeast infection or bladder infection, what does the symptom mean?
An infection is an immune response originating from the hypothalamus when the body has experienced an imbalance.
It sits just above the brain stem. It controls temperature (infections), hunger, thrist, sleep, fatigue and a few other functions.
The hypothalamus sends the body the signal to increase its temperature in response to an infection. This response is the body's call to maintain homeostasis.
Homeostasis is the ability for the body to regulate its internal environment. It does this by sending out signals such fever, vomitting, diarrhea etc.
The body has several defenses against infections: blood, fever, immune response, inflammation, and physical barriers.
Read this article from Merck Manuals which provides more in depth information about these defenses.
